Monochrome Monday #3
This addiction to the Mississippi is really starting to take over. Now I am planning field trips around it.

All of these photos were taken from various points on Mud Island and the monorail. The scale model of the lower Mississippi River is absolutely fantastic and I recommend it to everyone.

This bridge, the Hernando de Soto, carries the I-40 across the Mississippi and into Arkansas. The first time I went to Memphis I accidentally drove into Arkansas across this bridge.

The currents in the Mississippi always amaze me, the water is always moving, swirling, rippling. I get now why this river was such a barrier to westward moving pioneers.

This week our field trip involves a picnic on the banks of the Mississippi and the reading of Peter Lourie’s MISSISSIPPI RIVER A Journey Down the Father of Waters.
