Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly book meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t
give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to
their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Well, I clearly exceeded the typical two sentence length today…
My Teaser:
No fewer than five Nigerian “officials” stopped me on my way to the luggage carousels. Each of them asked for verifications of my identity. They all basically said the same thing. “Visa, American Express, any card will do.” Each of them clearly knew I was American. They all required a small bribe, or maybe they thought of it as a gratuity.
pg 103 Cross Country
by James Patterson

That is a pretty good teaser. I have only read one Patterson book before but I did enjoy it. I was thinking about picking up another one of his.

Very intriguing. I like James Patterson’s fiction, but this teaser makes me wonder if it isn’t non-fiction. The third world has it’s own patterns of behavior, and this (airport phenomenon) is a common one. Great teaser!
Thanks for coming by my blog earlier!

What a cool meme! It might help me get to know some new books, and I love to read! I’ve read Cross Country. I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I did.

You can pay bribes with credit cards? Cool to know. Great teaser.

Disturbing teaser! I’m sure this one will be suspenseful.

I have never read anything from this author, but this was an interesting sounding teaser. I had an opportunity to go to Nigeria at one point but I didn’t end up going.
Sometimes two sentences just isn’t enough. Great teaser!
