Visiting the Mississippi

Flooded Tree

So we didn’t make it to the river for all of sunset; but I did get a chance to take some pretty neat photos and the dog and the kid had a grand time.

Last Time This Time

We were quite surprised at how much higher the river was this time around, a good 8-10 foot difference since the last time we were down there. Guess that explains why they don’t build close to the bank on the lower, flatter Arkansas side.

Beautiful! Me and Mr. Skittles spent two days in Hannibal, Missouri last year and loved it. We took a steamboat ride and everything. =)

Considering how big it is and how far it has to travel, it’s not too surprising the Mississippi would fluctuate a bit.

In Montana we have some huge fluctuations. Creaks that can’t be crossed in spring turn into dry beds in fall.
