Christmas Cookies Part II

Party Mix

So I managed to get party mix and peppermint sugar cookies made in spite of a last minute trip back to Target for a incorrectly packaged item. I hate stores at the holidays, I hate long lines, and I hate people who aren’t prepared when their turn comes. Fortunately it took nowhere near as long as I thought it might.

Miss Muffin cutting cookies

Miss Muffin has enjoyed all the baking and does so much of the process by herself. She has gained so much skill and independence in this last year. She even wrapped presents all by herself!

waiting for candy cane topping

I took the easy way out this year and let her cut the peppermint dough with cookie cutters rather than doing canes and then making regular dough for cutouts. Since it’s just the three of us eating them it seemed like two big batches would be way too many. Of course, the peppermint dough is butter based and topped with crushed candy canes so the burn factor is almost as high as the taste factor.

Ready to eat!

Guess we’ll have to make the Beulah’s tomorrow, they are so good I can’t imagine skipping them. Come to think of it all our cookies are pretty yummy, maybe I’ll invest in a receipt printer and start a cookie company. Then again maybe I’ll just keep baking them for myself.
