Thursday Thirteen #20
It’s been a really long week and there is still the winter weather advisory that is in effect until late tomorrow. So here’s what I’ve been doing instead of blogging.
- Serious homeschooling started back up on Monday, I made a workbook for this week and am now a week ahead.
- Returned books to the library forgetting half of the books that were due.
- Scheduled for Miss Muffin to attend a local homeschool science class and a museum trip after, and then never got to go.
- Cooked Miss Muffin a special breakfast, which I had to abandon mid-cooking.
- Discovered that we had an uninsulated pipe along an outside wall when water started pouring out from the laundry room and into the kitchen.
- Racing around forever attempting to figure out where the water shut off is, and finding out we don’t have one.
- Waiting for the utilitly company to come and turn off the water at the street.
- Making multiple trips back and forth to Home Depot and Lowes as the repair project grew due to brittle pipes.
- Kneeling in ice cold water and drywall remnants trying not to paint myself with pvc cement.
- Turning the water back on only to discover another leak.
- Realizing at 8:15pm that all I’ve had since the previous night is half a cup of cold coffee.
- Making two more trips to the home repair stores to fix the last leak, and waiting two hours to see if it worked.
- Sitting around trying to get warm and enjoying having water again.
Well, there it is, all the fun and excitement of the last few days. At least, I know the pipes in that wall are winter freeze safe, I’ve even added an inside shutoff. AND I now know how to turn the water on and off at the street, a useful tip if you don’t have an inside shut off.
Now it’s time to get back to blogging, and get rid of all the Christmas decorations (hiding head in shame), it’s not just the blog that still decorated.

Nothing like living without water for 2 days to give one a real appreciation for it. It sure was a challenge, but you did a great job.
