American Idol – Boston Auditions
So tonight was the first night of the auditions for season 9, we sat down with dinner and a wine cooler, and let the fun begin. It will be the best of singers and the worst of singers, and more of the worst of singers.
Tonight’s Paula replacement was Victoria Beckham and she definitely took the role to heart with lots of positive comments even when they really sucked. Simon was in rare form saying things on live tv, I barely dare to say in the privacy of my own home. I know he can be cruel at times, but he does know his music. I can’t wait for Ellen to start.
Singers who stood out to me were Maddie Curtis, Katie Stevens, Ashley Rodriguez, Mike Davis, and Luke Shaffer. A third guy, Justin Williams, has some definite girl appeal, I just don’t know if he’s strong enough vocally to go very far. It seems amazing to me that out of over 9,000 people only 31 made it to the Hollywood rounds.
The bad ones were as usual quite bad, and the impatient, creepy looking, stalker dude (aka Andrew Fenlan) was beyond scary. I’m looking forward to a little more of a fix tomorrow night, or would that be tonight as it’s now after midnight here. If I stay up this late every night I’ll be looking for the best eye cream available. Until the next show…
