Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

Weekend Writer’s Retreat #1

a meme for writers of all kinds

Okay I’m digging into the archives for this week as I somehow haven’t managed to create anything new this week. I promise to try and do better next week.

Leaving You

We only want
What we cannot have
So the saying goes
And life goes on
Love passes by
Leaves you standing
On the edge of the road
Passions flare and fade
Friendships die away
I know it’s true
I know they do
But I never thought
With what we are and
What we are not
And all the things
I think I want
That it would be me
Leaving you this way

I really loved this poem. It spoke to me of things I have experienced in the past.

Great poem. The last line really makes it.
