multi-generation madhouse includes pets and meals

I really did come into tonight with lowered expectations, this season has just totally failed to live up to all the pre-show hype. I do think that for the most part we seeing contestants gaining confidence and developing some stage presence, if only this was always accompanied by solid vocals.

1. Lee DeWyze -Fireflies ~ Owl City (Adam Young) – It was okay, and I’m happy to see he’s gaining some confidence on the stage. He should make it through and hopefully he will settle into his sound.
2. Alex Lambert – Trouble ~ Ray LaMontagne – This song is nearing over done proportions on this show, but for the first time he doesn’t have that totally deer in the headlights look.
3. Tim Urban ~ Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley – I never thought I’d see myself type this; but I like Jason Castro’s performance better. It was a little rough and it lacked some of the range and drama I’m used to getting from this song.
4. Andrew Garcia – Genie in a Bottle ~ Christina Aguilera – I was seriously dreading this performance, I couldn’t quite wrap my head around what it would sound like. I liked it, he was at the very least true to his style and he did something he believed in.
5. Casey James – You’ll Think of Me ~ Keith Urban – There’s still quite a bit more vibrato to his tone than I usually care for but he at least delivers a solid performance.
6. Aaron Kelly – I’m Already There ~ Lonestar – He had one of the worst starts I’ve ever heard but he managed to pick himself up by the chorus. He really is way too young for this competition, but he is still just so dang cute, and when he smiles…
7. Todrick Hall – Somebody to Love ~ Queen – I need to start this by admitting that I couldn’t remember his name. I was like two left to go Big Mike and some other guy. He was better this week in that he kept close enough to the song that at least I recognized it; but it was still way over the top.
8. Michael Lynch – This Woman’s Work ~ Maxwell – WOW!!!!!

So that was the top 8 guys and it’s obvious that Mike is going to the top 12, and I figure Todrick and Tim or Aaron will go home. I guess there’s no way to know for sure other than to watch the results tomorrow night. For now I’ll just go play on the ps3.
