American Idol – Top 5

We are late tonight, watching Monday’s shows first then on to Tuesday. Company sure does mess with the tv schedule. The top 5 are singing the songs of Sinatra with mentoring and musical accompaniment by Harry Connick Jr.
- Aaron Kelly – Fly Me to the Moon – He did better than I would have imagined, but it was quite simple in a way, it showed his youth. I think he could be in trouble with going first and a so-so performance.
- Casey James – Blue Skies – After the package I was expecting something spectacular, but it was at best okay and at worst pitchy, as Grandma pointed out though he sure is pretty on stage.
- Crystal Bowersox – Summer Wind – It started kind of small and a few times I lost the lyrics. She ended really strong and I love seeing all the different sides of Mamasox. She shouldn’t be in any trouble, she’s still the best.
- Michael Lynche – The Way You Look Tonight – He has such a realness about him and a truth in his vocals when he does the love songs. He could record a hundred love songs and I would listen to them all. This should easily carry him through to next week.
- Lee DeWyze – That’s Life – Wow, that is definitely the most personality we’ve ever seen from Lee, and the vocals were fantastic. He made use of the pimp spot by delivering a top notch performance.
I think Aaron and Casey were pretty much dead even for the bottom and then we slowly climbed up to the top with Crystal, Mike, and Lee. I can see a Crystal/Lee finale in our future.
Bottom 2: Aaron, Casey – Casey going home
