Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

Stuck

I always find myself stuck standing in front of those cleverly placed point of purchase displays and impulse buy endcaps. I’ve worked retail, I know this is their purpose, I know that the best deals are usually not found there, and still I look. They are usually so pretty and flashy, meant to catch the eye and stir the senses. And please, whatever you do, don’t get me started with interactives, scented, or musical displays, I could play with those all day. I guess someone is doing their job right if I can’t force myself away from these retail traps, and it probably should annoy me more, but it’s hard to get too upset with people trying to make a living. I just wish I could keep my kid from noticing them. I know, I know, good luck with that.

Like mother like kids? I actually sail right past most endcaps, as do my kids. A sale, on the other hand, can make me look at things I have no business buying.

I have to stay out of book stores because I can’t control myself. Look at those NaNo numbers!
