American Idol – Solo Auditions

American Idol

Haley Reinhart, Ashthon Jones, and Thia Megia open the solos with stunning performances if it keeps up like this I wouldn’t want to be the one trying to cut the group down to size.

Rumors are flying and the format for the season has been changed once again with a top 24 coming at the end of all these prep shows. I can’t wait until we get to the voting.

Back to solos we get a few trainwrecks and then a few spectacular renditions of Georgia On My Mind. Chris Medina and Carson Higgins do drastically different versions of My Perogative and if I had to choose I take Carson any day, he’s way more fun to watch.

It’s fun to see so many contestants who are comfortable on stage, I despise the whole deer in the headlights thing. Besides if they are doing it on this stage they are going to be 10 times worse when they hit the big stage.

We are treated to several great performances with contestants playing instruments including Brett Loewenstern, Robbie Rosen, Colton Dixon, and Julie Zorilla; but the best came from Casey Abrams who played his stand-up base to Georgia On My Mind, such fun.

Lauren Suddeth give a great performance but I sure wish she would have done a song we haven’t heard her sing before. Jacob Lusk then belows everyone away with a performance that leaves him drained. John Wayne Schulz does Landslide and it is enjoyable. Ashley Sullivan, who almost quit last night, falls apart singing a song she supposedly knows so well there’s no way she can screw it up.

Stefano, Jovany, and Jacee all give solid performances, and the Scotty comes out and blows it but he’s not alone, Ta-Tynisa picks the same song and forgets the words too.

Now we’re off to the rooms, I wonder if we’ll find out tonight or if we have to wait until tomorrow. Well, here’s the answer Room 1 is staying (Casey Abrams, James Durbin, Ashley Sullivan, Brett Loewenstern, Jaycee Badeaux, Caleb Hawley, Clint Gamboa, Robbie Rosen, Lauren Alaina), Rooms 2 & 3 are out not too many surprises in who is leaving (Corey Lavoy, Brielle, Chelsee Oaks, Mark Guitierrez), Room 4 (Carson Higgins, Julie Zorilla, Jovany Baretto, Naimi Adedapo, Scotty McCreery) is in. Next week they head to Las Vegas for an all new challenge to help cut down on numbers and produce our top 24.

Well, there it is more fun than scrubbing the stove but maybe not as much fun as shopping for new contemporary furniture, the Hollywood episodes are done. Next week’s Las Vegas episodes should be interesting.
