American Idol – Top 12 Perform

American Idol

A portion of the proceeds from American Idol downloads will go towards relief efforts in Japan. More information tomorrow about how to donate. Tonight the top 12 sing songs from their birth year. As young as a few of these kids are that could almost qualify as current.

  1. Naima Adedapo

Naima Adedapo (1984)What’s Love Got To Do With It – Tina Turner – Ooh, this is flat, the chorus is a little closer but this performance is doing her no favors, especially since she’s in the first slot. 1-866-idols-01

  2. Paul McDonald

Paul McDonald (1984)I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues – Elton John – I love Paul’s voice I just can’t watch him dance. He is definitely hoarse and at times the notes are a little off but overall it was entertaining. 1-866-idols-02

  3. Thia Megia

Thia Megia (1995)Colors Of The Wind – Vanessa Williams – Another ballad from the Disney princess, a Disney Princess song. Her voice is undeniably beautiful but her performances are so unemotional. This was just a bit boring and predictable. 1-866-idols-03

  4. James Durbin

James Durbin (1989)I’ll Be There For You – Bon Jovie – I just love James, he is always having such a great time on stage. I think he jumped his intro a little and there a few pitch problems but who cares, he just sucks you in and takes you along for the ride.1-866-idols-04

  5. Haley Reinhart

Haley Reinhart (1990)I’m Your Baby Tonight – Whitney Houston – That performance just did nothing for me. It sounded flat at times and she got mealy mouthed when she did the fast parts. I love Ryan, makeup artist, fixing her red lipstick massacre. This won’t help her out of the bottom 3 that’s for sure.1-866-idols-05

  6. Stefano Langone

Stefano Langone (1989)If You Don’t Know Me By Now – Simply Red – A really solid performance and it’s heads above anything he’s done before. The judges love it, best of the night so far, outrageous. I’m not going all the way there but I’ll give credit for a really strong performance.1-866-idols-06

  7. Pia Toscano

Pia Toscano (1988) – I like the upbeat/dance feel of this and she can sing. She is probably the most consistent contest on the good end of the spectrum, which could carry her a long way. Where Do Broken Hearts Go – Whitney Houston1-866-idols-07

  8. Scotty McCreery

Scotty McCreery (1993)Can I Trust You With My Heart – Travis Tritt – His voice is so grown up sounding and he is such a baby. His vocals are so smooth and he is comfortable on stage, amazing for such a young kid. Besides the low notes give me chills.1-866-idols-08

  9. Karen Rodriguez

Karen Rodriguez (1989)Love Will Lead You Back – Taylor Dane – She has a pretty voice and 95% of the notes were there, she’s just kind of boring. For someone who doesn’t want to be known as the Spanish singer she sure won’t let it drop. 1-866-idols-09

  10. Casey Abrams

Casey Abrams (1991)Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana – Not as technically perfect this week, but there are times when perfection is not required. Entertaining and talented. He just keeps me guessing and I like that, I look forward to hearing what he does each week. 1-866-idols-10

  11. Lauren Alaina

Lauren Alaina (1994)I’m The Only One – Melissa Etheridge – She has the flu and she still has a bigger voice than Karen. There were a few of notes that were off but overall it was a good performance.1-866-idols-11

  12. Jacob Lusk

Jacob Lusk (1987)Alone – Heart – That was so much better than last week, he didn’t let them tone him down to boring. There were a couple of rough spots but he has put the emotion back in his performance. 1-866-idols-12

My Top 3: James, Scotty, Pia

My Bottom 3: Karen, Naima, Haley

Looks like the girls are trying to crash and burn, while the guys are stepping up and branching out. The producers are going to have to work a little harder if they want a girl to win.

Tomorrow’s results show will feature Lee DeWyze and The Black-Eyed Peas. Then unless a miracle occurs by the end of the night we’ll be saying goodbye to another girl.
