American Idol – Top 12 Results

American Idol

It’s results night and Ryan thanks us for all our contributions to the Red Cross relief funds for Japan. We are treated to baby pics of Lee DeWyze and The Black Eyed Peas. The opening number isn’t the worst I’ve ever seen, not the best either.

It’s Ford commercial music video time and it’s okay. Everyone in the audience got a copy of the 10th anniversary compilation cd. Then we get to see a little more about the top 12.

Jacob, Lauren, and Casey are called to center stage. Ryan and the judges talk about pitch issues. Jacob is safe, back to the couches he goes. Lauren is feeling a little better and heads to the couches as well. Casey is in the same boat as Lauren and Jacob and heads back to the couches.

Haley and Paul are next up to center stage. Ryan and Haley talk about who she is as an artist or who she wants to be. Paul is up next and they talk about his performance last night. One of them is safe the other is in the bottom 3. Haley is in the bottom 3 and Paul is safe.

Lee DeWyze performs “Beautiful Like You” it’s not unpleasant it’s just sort of bland and forgettable. The lyrics have meaning they just get lost in the blah.

Scotty, Pia, and James are called to center stage. Scotty is up first for review and he is safe. Pia is reviewed next, someone from the audience calls her safe and they are right. James’ turn, they talk about what James and Steven have in common, and James is safe.

Naima and Stefano are next a center stage. Stefano gets his review and then Naima. One is safe one is in the bottom 3. Naima goes to the silver seats of death, Stefano goes safely back to the couches.

Karen and Thia last to center. Ryan reviews their performances, one is safe, one is in the bottom 3. Thia is safe, Karen joins Haley and Naima on the silver seats.

The Black Eyed Peas take the stage to perform “Just Can’t Get Enough”. It’s not one of my favorites but I don’t hate it either, heaven knows I’ve heard worse on this stage.

Karen, Naima, and Haley are center stage, the lights are dimmed, it’s results time. The first back to safety is Naima. Haley is safe with much audience booing and Karen must sing for her life. Karen has opted to resing “Hero”. It’s pretty and filled with pagent arms and some questionable notes. One look at Jennifer’s face and I think I know their answer. Karen goes on and on at Ryan’s prompting, it’s too awful for words. It’s not unanimous and the save remains unused – Karen is going home.

This all played out as expected and if the girls don’t shape up I can easily see both Haley and Naima going home before we lose a guy.
