Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

Do You SPP?

Have you ever played SPP (SuperPoke Pets)? We’re addicted in our household. Trust me if I’d known how bad it would some day get; I never would have started. Of course, back in the beginning it wasn’t as time consuming and money greedy as it is now.

I remember getting my first pet and having no coins, the virtual money you earn caring for you pet and playing with your friends pets, but still having fun shopping and thinking it was a fun way to kill a few minutes each day. Now, everyone has multiple pets to help with the never ending stream of quests they create. There are gardens to be planted and harvested, wheels to be spun, friends to play with, and a club to run.

But the biggest change has been the division of the haves and the have nots by introducing gold bars. Players buy gold bars using their credit cards or Paypal account at a rate of 10¢ a bar with the cheapest items running 20 bars. Nevermind that I have no extra money, or that I have better things to spend it on when I do; this is a virtual pet, in a virtual world Slide can take it all away any time they want to (it’s in the user agreement) and your just S.O.L.

Add to that their new paid membership program and you have to realize I’m seriously contemplating the cold turkey route. If only I though the kid would agree.
