American Idol – Double Elimination
No way around it two are going home tonight. Ryan’s hair looks more normal and not so old, receding hairline guy. Fantasia will perform tonight as will Jamie Foxx and Will.i.am. 55 million votes were cast for these kids last night. The kids are singing in small groups during the reveal process.
Lauren and Scotty are up first with I Told You So – Randy Travis & Carrie Underwood it’s pretty good except when Lauren is knocking Scotty over with the big notes. Ryan reviews their performances and they are both safe.
The idols tell us about the Ford commercial game and then they do a cute little video to Kryptonite – 3 Doors Down. James got a WWE belt from fans. Now Naima and Jacob head to center stage to sing Solid – Ashford & Simpson, it wasn’t all that great. Ryan does the review and Naima is in danger while Jacob is safe.
Fantasia does Collard Greens and Cornbread and between the too tight dress, the weird blondish hair, the strange lyrics, and the funky voice I’m wishing I could have those 2 1/2 back again. She gives some really rambling advice about always loving the music and keeping real people around you.
Haley, Thia & Pia are up next to sing Teenage Dream – Katy Perry and Haley blows the beginning, Pia gives a strong follow up and all together they aren’t half bad. Of course there is just something really wrong about Thia singing this, maybe that’s why she didn’t get a solo. Ryan does the reviews, Pia is safe, Thia is in danger, and Haley is safe.
We get treated to a whole run down of a week in the life of the Idol contestant. Paul, Casey, Stefano, and James do Band On The Run – Paul McCartney & Wings, there were good moments but overall it wasn’t good. Casey is up first and Ryan says if he knew how many votes he got he’d be proud, Casey is safe. James gets his review and is safe. Stefano and Paul get their reviews and Paul is the 3rd one in the bottom 3. Paul, Thia, and Naima are the bottom 3 and two of them will go home after Jamie Foxx and Will.i.am perform.
Jamie Foxx and Will.i.am sing Hot Wings from the new animated movie Rio, it comes with a full stage dance production, but that’s not enough to save it. Ryan does a little promo chat with the guys and its off to commercial.
Ryan wastes no time announcing that of Naima, Paul, and Thia – Paul is the one who is safe. We take a look back at Naima’s and Thia’s journey and are treated to a few minutes of Cookie and it’s over.
We started with 7 girls and 6 guys and now we are down to 3 girls and 6 guys, way lopsided. Lauren, Pia, and Haley need to bring it each and every performance or this will once again be an all guy affair. According to maskedscheduler on twitter the theme for next week is Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, could be interesting.
