American Idol – Top 8 Results

A very dramatic, cinematic opening and Ryan same there were more than 53 million votes cast last night. The kids are performing in small groups again this week.
First up is Scotty and Lauren with American Honey – Lady Antebellum, they are a good match up. We must wait through the commercial for results, not that I think either of them is going home.
We get to see some fun clips of the making of this weeks Ford commercial music video. They have zombies in this one and the kids look like there having a blast. The actual video is to Animal – Neon Trees and it’s cute.
Haley and Casey are up next with Moanin’ – Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and they are good, really good. Now Ryan has all four kids to center stage and he reviews their performances. Scotty is called safe first, Lauren is safe next, Haley is the one in the bottom three and Casey is safe to much booing. If I were Casey I wouldn’t be to smug during song choices next week, the audience isn’t loving you.
Rob Reiner gave the kids some advice this week, and he’s absolutely hysterical. I love, love, love his lyrics to the Chariots of Fire theme. Now it’s time for Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean singing Don’t You Want To Stay. I really like Kelly, and she is great ragging on Ryan. Jason’s hat is a bit much and I have to wonder what he’s hiding.
James, Jacob, Paul, and Stefano do a Simon & Garfunkel medley with Sound of Silence and Mrs. Robinson it’s better than the last boy band performance we got, but it’s still pretty rough. Ryan reviews the performances and James is safe, Stefano is in the bottom 3, Paul is in the bottom 3, and Jacob is safe.
Rhianna is up with California King Bed and its okay. Ryan and Rhianna chat and she reveals with some prompting that fans will actually be able to sit in the stage on her upcoming tour, hmmm not sure how great the view will be.
Now its time to reveal the one going home. Haley is safe, Stefano is safe, and Paul is the first guy to leave the competition. Wonder who VFTW will vote for next week? Jennifer requests Maggie May and Paul does a stellar job of singing us out.
