Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

American Idol – Top 6 Perform

American Idol

Tonight brings us the songs of Carole King, Babyface as a mentor, solo performances and duets. I’d say the excitement was unbearable but I don’t want to lie to you. First up is Jacob…

  1. Jacob Lusk

Jacob LuskOh No Not My Baby – I just can’t make myself like him since the whole America can’t look at themselves in the mirror debacle. It has some odd moments and it lacks emotion and connection, hopefully his duet will be early on as well and everyone will forget about him. 1-866-idols-01 or

  2. Lauren Alaina

Lauren AlainaWhere You Lead – I think the visit from Miley helped Lauren feel more secure on stage. The performance was better than some of hers and she looked like she was having fun performing. The little bit with Lauren and Brett, the “random” guy in the audience, was really cute. 1-866-idols-02 or 1-866-idols-08

  3. Haley Reinhart & Casey AbramsI Feel The Earth Move – The video piece with this was hysterical. This was a great performance for Haley and a better performance from Casey than we’ve seen in quite a while. Haley seems to bring out the best in Casey and helps to mellow out some of his rough edges.

  4. Scotty McCreery

Scotty McCreeryYou’ve Got A Friend – Scotty has the feel and connection for this and he’s doing a great job singing higher in his register. We have to wait until the end of the song for a Scotty look but Ryan makes up for this by having Scotty do it again while Ryan gives us his numbers. Scotty is obviously ready and willing to battle for a place in the finale. 1-866-idols-03 or 1-866-idols-09

  5. James Durbin

James DurbinWill You Still Love Me Tomorrow – Yes James, I will love you all the way to the finale and beyond. A wonderful performance from start to finish, James has mastered the art of bringing something new to a song without destroying it.

  6. Lauren Alaina & Scotty McCreeryUp On The Roof – This was too cute and it just brings to light that these two are just about the cutest idol pair ever. If only Lauren would have looked at Scotty for the final notes, it could have been a total moment.

  7. Casey Abrams

Casey AbramsHi De Ho – This is a better Casey performance, the whole blues/jazzy arena is the right place for him. The only catch is that the whole thing seems overly practiced and rehearsed. 1-866-idols-05 or 1-866-idols-11

  8. Haley Reinhart

Haley ReinhartBeautiful – Haley obviously paid attention to the tips from Jimmy and Babyface and delivers a really strong performance. To me the big difference between Haley and Casey is that I always feel we are seeing the real Haley on stage.

  9. James Durbin & Jacob LushI’m Into Something Good – This could have been a total train wreck but the arrangement turned it into a cute little face off. I get that Steven didn’t totally love it but I think it really worked and it showed both of them in a good light.

My Order:

  1. James Durbin
  2. Scotty McCreery
  3. Haley Reinhart
  4. Lauren Alaina
  5. Casey Abrams
  6. Jacob Lusk

Who I’d Like To Go Home: Jacob Lusk

Overall this was a really good night, I liked some performances better than others but no one was totally horrible. It seems to me that the producers have decided that Haley is the better pick for staying in the competition and they are right. Lauren lack confidence, performance skills, and connection and doesn’t seem to be picking any up along the way. Can’t wait for results tomorrow night.
