Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

Online Dating

I’ve been single quite a while and I’m not unhappy that way. If I met someone and felt like dating them that would be okay; but I’m not sure I get all the craze surrounding online dating sites and people’s desperate desire to be paired up.

Still the sheer volume of these sites makes me wonder about them. How do you decide which are the best dating sites for you? They seem to have many things in common, yet they each also have differences. Are the most popular dating sites the best or are some of the lesser known sites preferable? So many questions and so few answers, until… I stumbled upon a site that provides side by side comparisons of online dating sites making it easier to see the focus, advantages, and disadvantages of each service as observed and ranked by actual users.

I was also intrigued by the sections of this site that reviewed web design services and hosting services. I don’t really need web design services, I can hold my own there; but anyone who’s read this blog over time knows the troubles I’ve had with GoDaddy and my eternal search for a better host. While converting from the windows platform to the linux platform this year has smoothed most of the issues I’m still interested in alternatives. Guess when the time comes to renew I’ll be headed back to do some comparisons.

There’s been a study that show that as much as 30% of all couples last year were formed on online dating website, so that’s a very good sign that it’s working. Free websites are generally aimed towards fun seeking no strings attached kind of people, while paid membership websites has members more inclined towards serious, lasting relationships.
