Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

A Helping Hand

One thing I’ve learned over the last few years is that Medicare doesn’t cover everything and it’s not cheap. When my mother first became ill she had health and disability insurance through her job and then social security disability and medicare. Neither situation really paid for all the medical expenses that came up but as our income dropped it became more and more obvious how many gaps there are.

After a while we learned about medicare supplemental insurance that is meant to cover the gaps in standard medicare insurance. There are a variety of vendors and packages available at all kinds of price points. There are even plans specifically designed for low income medicare recipients. You can even get free quotes to see how much your expanded coverage will really cost.

Another challenge during all of this was attempting to maintain life insurance, it’s typically just too expensive to maintain once you lose the support of employer coverage. There are some decent alternatives out from companies like Aptus Insurance who offer a variety of plans for every lifestyle and pocketbook. It’s worth getting a quote to avoid the pain that comes from too many expenses and not enough coverage later.
