Unexpected Treasure
Jacob Dunner has always felt inferior to everyone in his family. As far as he could tell, his family
felt that way as well. “Poor Jacob,” they would say, “Always the runt of the litter, he never did make it to college. Where is he working this month?” Jacob longed to quiet the wagging tongues, he just didn’t know how.
Then his grandfather, considered at best an eccentric old curmudgeon at worst vengeful miser, dies leaving behind nothing but a cryptic will. A will so shocking it will send the entire family into a tizzy and most of his grandchildren on a hunt for a mystery treasure.
Now Jacob must embark on a journey that stretches across the country risking what little he has managed to acquire for the hope of finally earning his family’s respect. What he finds is worth so much more…
Book Blurb Friday is hosted by Lisa Ricard Claro, who posts a weekly photo and challenges us to “write a book jacket blurb (150 words or less) so enticing that potential readers would feel compelled to buy the book.” That’s quite a challenge, but it’s a lot of fun as well. Click on the image at the left to read more blurbs or enter one of your own.
My blurb this week has 144 words.

Wow, this was great. I loved how you made a book with the picture in it – that’s cool.
Oh, the possibilities! Jacob is the underdog who must come out ahead, of course, but you’ve opened the box on a lot of different personalities. This sounds like a fun read with many varied characters. I’m in for the buy!

Intriguing story. I always think the runt of the litter is the best of the bunch.

I love how you got a cross country journey and life-changing events out of a typewriter! Nice!

Jacob is going to show his true worth – and his family will learn to respect him at last. I like stories in which the underdog struggles to the top of the heap:-)
