MCS Board Votes Money Over Education
I’m a little at a loss for words right now after reading an article on the Memphis City School Boards latest decision. I seriously have to wonder what these people are thinking… Honestly who decides to delay the opening of school waiting for the payment of funds from uncollected property taxes?
If the city can’t get the property owners to pay the taxes how the heck are they going to pay the school system? If the city can’t pay are you really willing to leave children out of school until whenever they can pay? How is it that the superintendent thinks the biggest tragedy is how far behind the kids will get in studying for the state tests? Why are people worried about football, when their children are being deprived of their education? Please wake up and smell the coffee!
If you ask me the biggest concerns (outside of how this adds to the appallingly poor educational standards here) are the number of children who will be left home alone by parents who have no alternatives and the number of children who rely on free breakfast and lunch programs who will go without indefinitely. The stupidity of this whole situation is just mind boggling. Boy am I glad I homeschool!
