Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

Passage Home

Clarissa had been running for so long she couldn’t remember any other life; well, that wasn’t Book Blurb Friday Week #28exactly true. Clarissa remembered prison.

She remembered the guards who mocked and beat. She remembered the inmates who fought and stole. She remembered the food poorly cooked and filled with bugs. She remembered enough that she knew she would never go back. That was why she had to keep running, keep changing, never get attached, and never leave a trace.

Clarissa still wondered how long she could run. At first she’d thought a few weeks; later she’d realized it could be years. Now she wondered if she would run for the rest of her life…

Then one day as she hid behind a dumpster to avoid a homeless sweep she was given an opportunity she’d never dreamed of – a chance to go home.

Book Blurb FridayMy blurb this week has 139 words.

Book Blurb Friday is hosted by Lisa Ricard Claro, who posts a weekly photo and challenges us to “write a book jacket blurb (150 words or less) so enticing that potential readers would feel compelled to buy the book.” That’s quite a challenge, but it’s a lot of fun as well. I am now curious-how does the dumpster tie into this? Hmm…intriguing!

I’d buy that book for the last line: a chance to go home. Very compelling.

Well done. You offer a compelling back story that is rife with questions, the answers to which I will only discover by reading the book. There is lots to chew on here, and I’d buy the book to visit that buffet.

Wow! This is excellent. I would buy your book in a heartbeat. I am full of questions … what did she do to get in jail, how long was she in there, is she running from herself? Inquiring minds want to know.

Very interesting. A victim, hard life, keeps persisting, and now finally may have hope of respite. Gave me a chance to learn on how to write a book blurb. Thank you.
