Taking A Closer Look
Miss Muffin is a huge fan of seeing things for herself. I’m proud of this and encourage it as much as possible.
A few weeks ago this became an issue with a science experiment that required the use of sugar cubes. Who knew the darn things had become so difficult to find. We’ve finally decide to make our own simply of the purpose of the experiment, they won’t be perfect but they’ll do the job.
I wish we had something other than a magnifying glass and her little plastic handheld microscope though. I’d really love for her to get a good look at the difference in the surface area of granulated and cubed sugar. If we had a digital microscope it would be easy.
Yes, I realize that a digital microscope is really overkill for a 4th grader looking at sugar. It’s just that I can see all of the future potential. We could do years of science experiments with with a good digital microscope.
I guess it’s just one more thing to add to the list of things I want when we win the lottery. If only Grandma would come up with the winning numbers, I promised I’d buy the ticket.
