Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

Security On The Go

We’ve had issues with our internet access at home for the last few days and I used a lot of free wi-fi access points to do things like post to our blogs and check facebook. I wasn’t too worried about the security for these as I just changed the passwords once we were back up and running at home. But what if I’d had to access more important and hopefully secure sites?

At home we have multiple levels of firewalls but when I’m out and about I don’t think that my laptop’s security is necessarily sufficient to protect things like bank accounts and high security documents. So I was quite intrigued by the idea of a company that allows you to hide an IP address through their system protecting your identity and all your secure accounts and files. Several of the services I saw that allow you to hide an IP claim that their service will make all internet use private, keep all your connections secure, allow you to access sites that are typically blocked for your actual IP, and prevents access to your files and browsing history regardless of where you surf from.

The more I read about these services the more tempted I am to try one. With the laptop I am accessing the internet from a lot more places from home and I can’t help but feel that have complete privacy and security offered by an online privacy and security service is a great idea.
