A Blast From the Past
As a kid I enjoyed playing video arcade games and looked forward to each new release. One of my favorites was the pacman arcade machine. If someone had given me the quarters I would have played all day every day. As it was game play was restricted to a few games when we went out to dinner.
Then one day while Grandma and I were traveling we stopped in a store and discovered that there were miniaturized versions of several arcade classics including the pacman arcade machine. We snatched one up, grabbed a few packs of C batteries, and ran to the check out sure we had scored the ultimate prize.
I wanted to play it so bad that I unpacked it and installed the batteries in the car. Let me tell you that didn’t last long. Grandma wanted nothing to do with the overly loud sound effects that were nothing like the fun sounds of the original pacman arcade machine. Not to mention that the lower quality graphics and short battery life.
Some day I’d love to own one of the fabulous genuine arcade style games I’ve seen available recently. They offer real arcade style graphics and sound, and they have multiple games installed on a single machine. Imagine the fun Grandma and I could have playing all our old favorites.
