Getting the Word Out
Several of my friends have started their own businesses recently and are working hard at turning nothing into something. One of the most common complaints I hear from them is how much time they put in advertising their businesses instead of working them. When I suggested an advertising agency they all laughed and said there wasn’t enough money.
I understand some of their reluctance because I understand how tight money is and how much they’ve already invested in their businesses. On the other hand I have to think that a few well spent dollars with a reputable advertising agency would meet their advertising needs and free them up to run their businesses.
I even suggested that several of them who are running small craft related businesses figure out a way to work together to advertise and promote all of their products under a single umbrella company or advertising plan. Perhaps a website with related facebook and twitter accounts that showed off their products and then directed the shopper to the correct seller. Then they could work with an advertising agency to promote the umbrella site giving them all a chance to earn business from a single advertising budget.
Of course, it’s important that they choose the correct advertising agency for their needs. In today’s market place you need a firm understanding of social media and internet marketing if you want the most bang for your buck. However, there is still a lot of value in the more traditional modes of marketing and advertising and a quality advertising agency will be able to help them to get the most for their money.
I’m excited to see how they all work out their advertising issues and look forward to shopping for all their fabulous creations.
