Random Peeks Into Our Everyday Lives

Precious Cargo

My favorite coffee maker is the Hamilton Beach Brewstation but we would never have tried one if it weren’t for Miss Muffin. You see, when she was born we had one of those old fashioned carafe style Mr. Coffee machines that required a couple of free hands to safely pour a cup of coffee. More than once I went without coffee for hours because I couldn’t settle her down and I didn’t feel safe pouring coffee while I held her. This sent Grandma in search of a solution as a birthday gift that year.

While I love my Brewstation and can’t imagine not having it for more reasons than the ease of pouring coffee I must confess that when I see women with those fabulous baby slings I think a comfortable baby carrier would have served an even bigger purpose than the coffee maker. Funny though how infant carriers have come a long way by going back to basics. Baby hip carriers and other sling style carriers don’t rely on fancy technology or a million buckles and straps to work, instead they rely on more traditional, and natural “technology” to help you comfortably and safely carry your baby.

Of course, my days of needing baby carriers are long past, Miss Muffin survived being held in everyone’s arms, and I still smile every time I pour my coffee one handed. Thank you Grandma!

I can even try that kind of experience you have. I have a kind of fear in that.
