Searching

searching for a house

I swear I feel a bit like I’m stuck in a very bad search engine. Since getting my college acceptance we’ve been house hunting and coming up empty-handed. I even took Miss Muffin and drove across Tennessee to look in person and came home with nothing but a hotel bill to show for it. [Read more →]

I Wish…

Sure wish our cats would let us do this, especially Grandma’s little grey fur factory. It wouldn’t hurt the dog either.

Progress On Several Fronts

cleaning bucket

Well, this past weekend Grandma sorted through 8 file storage sized boxes of photos, frames, albums, letters, and other what-not and managed to distill it all down to 5 shoe-box sized boxes and one 8″x10″x2″ box. She did an awesome job and my back will thank her when it’s time to load the moving truck.

Yesterday we donated or tossed a whole bunch of stuff from unpacked boxes in her closet. [Read more →]

Musical Oversharing

Our neighbors enjoy their music and they enjoy entertaining. During the winter this isn’t much of a problem as thier parties occur behind closed doors and the sound of their live band doesn’t carry across the street and through several walls. But during the summer we hear everything. [Read more →]

Disney Dreams

Disneyland Resort, California

The summer between kindergarten and first grade my aunt and uncle invited me on a cross country trip. The idea was that because their oldest child and I were just six weeks apart in age we would entertain each other during the long drive. I’m not entirely sure it worked that way but it was a cool experience anyway.

While the primary destination for the trip was family in Las Vegas we did journey into California for visits [Read more →]

A Sort Of Deadline

Portable On Demand Storage Container

I wish I could say after months of dreaming about moving, sorting through stuff, and reducing that I had actually accomplished something. But overall we are no more ready to move than we were when we started. Except, of course, we’ve narrowed down the possible destinations.

When we moved here I drove a giant U-Haul in a single day and Grandma followed behind in the car breaking the trip into two day journey. This time we’re going to use a P.O.D.S. container to move most of our stuff and Muffin, Grandma, and I will take our three cats, [Read more →]

Growing Concerns and Solutions

EnG Product Shot.png

We rent our house in Memphis and we’re planning on moving in the coming months so I’m reluctant to plant too much in the ground at this point. I’ve started a few things in pots, but it won’t work for anything that isn’t relatively drought resistant because it gets so hot here at times that I’ve seen plants dry up and wilt after being thoroughly watered at 5:00 am.  Of course, the next week they are flooded and limp with nature’s over watering.

Because of all this I was really excited when I heard about Miracle-Gro® Expand ‘n Gro™ and learned that it works in the ground or in pots, has all natural fibers that hold up to 50% more water than basic potting soil, and feeds plants for up to six months! Add to that the fact that Expand ‘n Gro produces up to three times the flowers and vegetables versus native soil and can significantly improve the soil for multiple years and you can see why I am excited to give it a try.
