I shuddered when I read the theme for this week, the word pack brings only one thing to mind – MOVING. We moved this summer with only a few weeks notice and it seems our lives have been nothing but an endless series of boxes being packed and unpacked since.

I was grateful to have help loading and unloading the truck, but boy as I was driving that thing for seven and a half a hours across 4 states I began to wonder if driving a poorly packed 27 foot uhaul would make me a candidate for high risk life insurance. We made it safely to our new home, have had a whole slew of adventures since, and I expect we’ll have plenty more in the future, hopefully none of them involve packing.

When I built my first website I hand coded it on a free Yahoo – Geocities account. My mother swears that this is a miracle of sorts because of how difficult they made the hand coding process, I figure I just didn’t know any better at the time.

But when I started a class for html she got me my very own Go Daddy hosting account with my very own domain. Gosh that was so much easier, and did I ever have fun learning about html, css, xml, and more. We developed a fabulous way to view all our sigs for our graphics group and never had the down time that other people complained about, life was sweet.

Then I learned about blogging, I used Blogger, it was okay but I wanted control, so I put a Wordpress blog on a free account. Ugh, what a nightmare, so off I went in search of a blogging platform that would work on my Go Daddy account; but I always hoped I would find a way back to Wordpress.

When we moved this summer I got the chance to change our Go Daddy account over to one that would allow me to run our Windows based apps and the PHP based Wordpress on the same hosting account. I thought life was getting even sweeter. BUT since we made the switch we’ve had nothing but trouble, the sites are always crashing, Go Daddy has been less than helpful in righting the situation and at times has even resorted to blaming it all on me. I’ve been left with a rather sour disposition and the need to find another hosting service, preferably one that will let me do it all without crashing.

Then this morning I couldn’t access my sites not a single one of the four. In a fury I called Go Daddy and was told that from their end everything looked fine, further when tested on a outside server, it still looked fine. Oh great, I was sure I was going to hear how this was my problem again, can anyone guess how sour my mood was? But then… The kind gentleman suggested that we work on transferring my sites to a different server. It costs me $6.99 today but when the process is finished all my old hosting time will be added to the new account so its pretty much an even break in terms of money. Finally some hope, maybe life will be sweet again soon. Now I just have to survive the transfer.

If the blog disappears for a short while in the next few days don’t panic, it should be a good thing, it could be the end of all my web site frustrations, and that would be sweet.

One thing you never want your cat to do is to knock a glass of crystal light onto your keyboard. You then spend one day waiting for it to dry, one day realizing that you can’t operate without the q w e r t y u i keys, and one day desperately searching for the spare keyboard hoping it’s not one of the things you dumped when you moved. Thankfully it wasn’t, can’t believe I’m actually happy to have the old thing, maybe Santa will bring me a new one for Christmas.

It’s slightly cheesy I know, but I am proud of finally finishing NaNoWriMo with over 60,000 words as of last night. I have started so many times and never gotten any closer than 30,000 words. Now if only I could have kept to one story line, instead I have two entirely separate stories with about 30,000 words each. I haven’t figured out if there’s a way to tie them together yet but I’m going to keep on trying.

I’m also proud of finishing a third month with a post every day. I’m bad with that for some reason so three months in a row is a big deal. I’m not holding my breath on success in December, there is just way too much going on; but my goal for January is to try not only posting every day; but posting at the same time every day, somebody remind me of that somewhere around the middle of January when I post at 11:46pm.
