Teaser Tuesdays #13
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly book meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: grab your current read, open to a random page, share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page, BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!), share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My Teaser:
The mummy-style bag lay at right angles to the river, with the “head” part almost touching a log the Forest Service had placed there just where the sandy beach began. The shallow edges of the Lostine lapped softly against its shoreline. Otherwise, it was completely quiet. ~ pg 9

My Teaser:
I turn to look at Clare and just for a moment I forget that she is young, and that this is long ago; I see Clare, my wife, superimposed on the face of this young girl, and I don’t know what to say to this Clare who is old and young and different from other girls, who know that different might be hard. But Clare doesn’t seem to expect an answer. She leans against my arm, and I put my arm around her shoulders.

How could anyone accuse me of stealing a god’s weapon? I couldn’t even steal a slice of pizza from Gabe’s poker party without getting busted. ~ pg 137

My Teaser:

He gripped the rim of the casket and bowed his head and closed his eyes. And the sobs came quaking through him and he didn’t try to fight them. Alone now, he would allow himself this, and later be the stronger for Sarah. ~ pg 46

I just started this one so this is really more of a random quote, it just caught my eye and gave me a laugh.
My Teaser:

“Now don’t you go looking at me like that, missy. It don’t hurt to strut your stuff when you got something to strut. If the good Lord wanted us gals to looking like a pillow with the stuffing knocked out of it, He wouldn’t have built us the way He did.”

He was doing a little gasping, too. It was like jumping onto the running board of a car that was already speeding down the dark road.

Since I’m not reading anything at this exact moment I thought I’d do a teaser from my most recently completed read Under the Dome by Stephen King. I’ve picked two sentences from different pages just for the fun of it.
My Teaser:

His first impulse was to cover the body parts, but there were too many. ~pg 14
The three children stood in the somehow depthless afternoon light, under a sky that now had a decided yellowish tinge, and looked at the dead bear at the foot of the telephone pole. ~pg 542
