Pointless
Just a quick note to say I’ve been up since 5:30am and I’m so not loving it. Worse is when there really is no point to me being up this early. I seriously sat around waiting for the next person to arrive at work for over an hour yesterday. Good thing I brought a book.
Update: My boss was there when I got in this morning. Can’t begin to tell you what a difference that makes to my day. That hour of sitting around doing nothing really kills my momentum in the morning.

Maybe A Vacation
Wow, my poor abused blog, I’m so sorry I’ve neglected you so long. It would seriously help if I could get any sort of routine set up, but until my work schedule settles that’s nearly impossible. I’ve been up since 5:30 am, and any one who’s read my blog before knows I’m not a morning person. Now if my sky looked something like this…

THAT would be worth getting up to look at. Well I’m convinced, what I need is a vacation and not just any vacation, an Outer Banks vacation. Seriously, I’m ready to snatch up one of those Outer Banks vacation rentals and go relax in the surf.

Can’t you just feel it — the sun, the breeze, the cool water of the Atlantic Ocean. I can hear the wind whispering through the tall grass as I sit and read. Maybe then I would have time to blog, or maybe not, cause I haven’t even touched on all the wonderful fresh seafood.

That settles it, time to pick one of the lovely homes Carolina Designs offers and get myself a vacation. I need more of this in my life…

Randomness Reigns
I’ve been learning lots about college sports at my new job and it’s been enlightening to say the least. Who would have guessed that there were so many rules and regulations governing college sports and athletic scholarships.
This week we done a bunch to get the social networking aspects of it all up and running. Kind of funny to picture me being responsible for regular tweeting. Fortunately I’ve come up with some ideas for daily and weekly tweets and some apps to schedule them with.
All this new stuff is a little overwhelming and exhausting, not like the way a marathon or operating industrial equipment would be, but in that brain strain kind of way. It’s hard to believe I’m going to add school and homeschool to all of this next week.
Well, I’m off to bed now, I’m so not used to going to bed at 10:30/11pm yet.

Another View (Or 3) From The River Park

So, broken toe or no broken toe, I kept my promise to take her to Mud Island Friday. This proved to be a bit tricky as I had to find places to put my foot up so that the toe would stop swelling. Fortunately we had a friend along and that helped to keep her entertained. I took several shots of my favorite bridge and river, it was just too easy, as well as a ton of the girls playing in the “river”.

As we walked along the river, taking breaks when my toe screamed too loudly, I did a bit of people watching. I caught myself being particularly mindful of men’s clothing. I saw everything from guys in suits to skate rats to comfy casual shirt and shorts. Funny but the guys I’m always drawn to are the ones who traverse that range easily and with a certain sense of appropriateness. Since I work with a lot of high school athletes now, I’ve become even more aware of how a guy’s clothing affects the way he is perceived by others. Guess it really is worth it to invest a little in your appearance.

Since the River walk is an exact scale model of the Lower Mississippi River flowing from its confluence with the Ohio River at Cairo, Illinois 954 miles south to the Gulf of Mexico, it is to be expected that our journey’s mid point was successfully reaching and taking a break at the Gulf. The girls dangled their legs (no swimming allowed) in the Gulf then went back to “Lake Pontchartrain” for a good time splashing and “swimming”.

Sorry I’m Neglecting You
Wow, it’s so hard to get a solid schedule down, my life just seems to be moving way too fast and I can’t keep up with the changes. A laptop seriously has to be a consideration, then at least I could use those down moments in all my running around to get a little blogging and commenting done. I suppose if I get a laptop I’ll need to consider a laptop warranty, or maybe I’ll wind up with one of those overpriced cellphones and a wild data plan instead. I”m off to another part of my grant tomorrow and then I have a job interview Friday!

Computer School
It looks like I will be going to computer school as soon as I get through the process of applying for my grant. It’s a great opportunity for me to get more formal education in something I really love and perhaps to get a job doing something fun with a great paycheck.
It’s still really hot here and although as the temp drops a little it’s becoming bearable. The munchkin is almost totally adjusted and spends about 3 to 4 hours each day playing outside. I on the other hand am suffering from some of the worst breakouts I’ve had since high school; guess it’s time to check out what the best acne products are today and try one. Although I’d much prefer that it just cool down.

Good for Reading, Bad for Computing
Well, one thing I can say for the heat wave is that it’s been great for this family’s reading habits. We all spend a lot more time in the living room or bedrooms reading, and a lot less time in the office on the computer. The bad news is we all have things that need to be done on the computers.
I’ve considered at least temporarily moving all the computers out to the living room and one of the bedrooms, the only concern being that they might start to heat those rooms as well. I’m not sure there is any perfect solution.
I keep hoping that we will get hit with a couple of these massive rainfalls others are getting so that we can break the grip of these storms. Otherwise I’m going to need to start reading wrinkle cream reviews I’ve spent so much time worrying about this.
It’s 88 now at 8:42 central daylight which means its cooler temp wise than yesterday but the heat index is already 101. Tomorrow and Tuesday the temps are to reach 100 with heat indexes over 110. I’ll write more then if I don’t melt first.
