Thursday 13 #22 – A Poem of Sorts
13 words beginning with the letter F to describe the snow this past weekend
Thursday 13 #21 – World Thinking Day
- Thinking Day was first created in 1926 at the fourth Girl Guide/Girl Scout International Conference held at Girl Scouts of the USA's Camp Edith Macy
- February 22 was chosen as it was the birthday of Scouting founder Robert Baden-Powell and of Olave Baden-Powell, his wife and World Chief Guide.
- The girls participate in activities, games and projects with global themes to honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries.
- In 1932, at the seventh World Conference, held in Poland, a Belgian delegate suggested that since birthdays usually involve presents, girls could show their appreciation and friendship on Thinking Day not only by extending warm wishes but by offering a voluntary contribution to the World Association.
- To emphasize the global aspect of Thinking Day, members at the 30th World Conference, held in Ireland in 1999, changed the name from Thinking Day to World Thinking Day.
- World Thinking Day is part of the WAGGGS Global Action Theme (GAT) based on the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which aim to improve the lives of the world's poorest people.
- In 2005 the theme for World Thinking Day was "Think about food"
- In 2006 the theme was "Think about, talk about and do something about adolescent health issues".
- In 2007 the theme was "Discover your potential by taking the lead, growing friendships, and speaking out".
- In 2008 the theme was "Think about water".
- The theme for World Thinking Day 2009 is girls worldwide say "we can stop the spread of AIDS, malaria and other diseases.".
- We got to "visit" 10 countries and learn some about their customs & diet. The countries represented were Chile, Spain, France, Italy, Ivory Coast, Fiji, Korea, China, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
- Each country had displays that gave information about the country's population, customs, foods, health issues, lifespan, and more; we got to sample foods, learn about games, do a few crafts, and collect a swap that represented each country.

Thursday 13 #20 – Purely Random
Purely Random
- I finally fixed all the mess ups from when I transferred my blog from WordPress to Blogengine.net (1/22/09).
- I finally fixed all the mess ups from when I transferred my blog from Blogger to WordPress (8/11/08).
- My house is silent if only for a moment – all the little girls are outside.
- My coffee cup is black with gold and rainbow cats.
- I need to buy oxyclean, toilet paper, & cat litter.
- We are having plum chicken for supper, it’s already in the crockpot.
- My calico kitty, Lucyfur, is desperate for attention now that the little girls are gone.
- You know you have waited too long to do the dishes when you have to run two loads through the dishwasher.
- I’m still wearing my pajamas
- I have a cat lying on top of my mouse.
- For some reason I am still working on my first cup of coffee, maybe that’s why I’m so tired.
- I am desperately craving chocolate, guess I’ll have to buy some of that too.
- I went from -2 to 22 in the Fantasy Idol game
I warned you it was random

- At a village of La Mancha, whose name I do not wish to remember, there lived a little while ago one of those gentlemen who are wont to keep a lance in the rack, an old buckler, a lean horse and a swift greyhound.
- Midway in our life’s journey, I went astray from the straight road and woke to find myself alone in a dark wood.
- It was a pleasure to burn.
- It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn’t know what I was doing in New York.
- What can you say about a 25 year old girl who died?
- Once there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy.
- You better not never tell nobody but God.
- I had the story, bit by bit, from various people, and, as generally happens in such cases, each time it was a different story.
- The great fish moved silently through the night water, propelled by short sweeps of its crescent tail.
